INDUSTRY VISIT TO FPT IS – PROJECT MANAGEMENT COURSE FOR ADVANCED PROGRAM STUDENTS

Recently, students from Cohort 62 of the Advanced Program, Faculty of Business Administration, Foreign Trade University, participated in an industry visit to FPT IS, a member of FPT Corporation. The visit was organized as part of the Project Management course, aiming to provide students with practical insights into real world project operations and management in the technology sector.

Representing the Faculty of Business Administration was Associate Professor, Dr. Bùi Thu Hiền, Vice Dean of the Faculty. From the corporate side, the session was led by Mr. Trần Mạnh Tiến, Enterprise Director at FPT IS, an experienced expert in project management.

The visit began with a guided tour of the modern office environment at FPT IS, where students observed a dynamic workplace and gained insights into the company’s culture, which emphasizes innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This experience provided students with a clearer understanding of professional working environments in the IT industry.

Following the tour, the sharing session delivered valuable practical knowledge. The speaker introduced the company’s development journey and core business areas, followed by an in depth case study on project management at Dat Xanh Group, a large scale project involving over 120 subsidiaries and more than 6,000 users. Through this case, students were able to understand real world challenges and key success factors in project execution.

The discussion highlighted essential project management principles, including scope control, identification of the critical path, human resource management for schedule adherence, maintaining continuous communication among stakeholders, exercising effective leadership at appropriate stages, addressing organizational barriers, and fostering a unified one team mindset.

The industry visit not only helped bridge the gap between theory and practice but also created opportunities for direct interaction with industry professionals. This experience plays a significant role in preparing students for future careers in project management.
