LÊ THỊ THÙY TRANG – OUTSTANDING VALEDICTORIAN OF COHORT 61 AT FTU: A JOURNEY OF GROWTH THROUGH THE COURAGE TO TAKE ON CHALLENGES

During her four-year journey at Foreign Trade University, Lê Thị Thùy Trang, a Business Administration student, has made a remarkable impression through her outstanding academic achievements, earning a GPA of 3.98/4.0 and a conduct score of 99/100, alongside numerous accomplishments in scientific research and community-oriented projects.

Trang was recognized as one of the 16 outstanding valedictorians of Cohort 61 in the April 2026 graduation ceremony of Foreign Trade University. She is also the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, including the Outstanding Academic Encouragement Scholarship for multiple semesters, the AEON Scholarship for the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 academic years, and the Never Give Up Scholarship for the 2024–2025 academic year.

In addition, Trang has earned the titles of “Five-Good Student” at both the city and university levels, as well as the title of Outstanding Student of Foreign Trade University for two consecutive academic years, 2023–2024 and 2024–2025.

During her early days at university, Trang was not entirely certain about choosing Business Administration as her major. Amid different expectations and career orientations, what concerned her most was not simply what to study, but rather what kind of person she would become after four years of university life. That journey of self-discovery began within the learning environment of the Faculty of Business Administration at Foreign Trade University. Through each course, Trang gradually gained a deeper understanding of how businesses operate and how managerial decisions can create meaningful changes within organizations and the broader economy. More importantly, however, she realized that knowledge only becomes truly meaningful when connected to experiences beyond the classroom.

Starting from her second year, instead of choosing a comfortable and predictable academic path, Trang decided to step beyond her comfort zone by participating in scientific research, engaging in practical projects, and contributing to community activities. These choices required discipline, the ability to balance pressure, and the courage to accept imperfections along the way. “I realized that opportunities for growth rarely exist within familiar boundaries. Only by daring to try things I had never done before could I truly understand myself and learn how to adapt to change,” Trang shared.

One of the most meaningful experiences in her journey was participating in volunteer teaching activities for visually impaired students. Through simple classroom interactions, Trang recognized that seemingly small barriers — such as the lack of suitable learning materials or difficulties in taking notes using Braille — could quietly limit many students’ access to knowledge. From these concerns, NAVEEclass was created — an AI-integrated English learning platform designed to make the learning experience more engaging and accessible for visually impaired students. Over time, NAVEEclass gradually evolved into a positive learning community where English is no longer a barrier, but instead becomes a bridge that opens up new opportunities for learners. For Trang, business is not merely about profit; it is also a journey of creating sustainable value for society — where every solution not only addresses practical problems, but also contributes to making life more humane and meaningful. In addition to her entrepreneurial activities, Thùy Trang has actively pursued scientific research and achieved numerous outstanding accomplishments, including:

  • Second Prize at the Final Round of the 2024 Student Science and Technology Award
  • First Prize in the 2023–2024 University-Level Student Scientific Research Competition
  • Second Prize in the 2023–2024 Faculty-Level Student Scientific Research Competition
  • Notably, Trang was a co-author of a research article published in the Journal of Advances in Management Research (Scopus Q2) in 2024, alongside several other domestic and international publications.

According to Trang, scientific research has significantly transformed her learning mindset — from passively absorbing knowledge to proactively questioning, critically analyzing, and seeking evidence-based explanations. “I no longer focus only on what to learn, but pay much more attention to why and how a problem can be explained,” Trang shared. The research journey has helped her develop logical thinking, systems analysis capabilities, and advanced academic working skills.
