On May 25, 2026, the workshop “Introduction to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems” was successfully held through the collaboration between the Faculty of Business Administration, Foreign Trade University and Odoo S.A.. The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain practical insights into modern business management systems and digital transformation.
The workshop was organized for students of the Management Information Systems course (QTR201.2), taught by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa. Accompanying students throughout the two-hour session was Mr. To Ton Thanh, Education Program Manager of Odoo Vietnam. Through engaging and practical discussions, he shared valuable perspectives on how businesses manage operations, integrate information, and optimize resources through ERP systems.
During the workshop, students explored the importance of management software and gained a deeper understanding of how departments within an organization are interconnected through a centralized system. The session also highlighted the key differences between standalone software solutions and comprehensive ERP platforms, helping students develop a more holistic view of business management in the digital age.
Beyond theory, students were given the opportunity to observe and experience real business workflows, including B2C, B2B, and procurement processes. One of the most exciting parts of the workshop was the hands-on practice session on Odoo’s official platform, where students directly created sales orders and performed basic operational tasks. This practical experience allowed them to better understand how ERP systems support business operations and decision-making.
Before the workshop concluded, Odoo representatives introduced students to a range of educational resources and guided them in creating free Educational Database accounts on the Odoo platform. These resources will support students in further learning, research, and practical application of ERP concepts beyond the classroom.
