“Fail Fast – Learn Fast”: Agile Mindset in Project Management

The Project Management class of the High-Quality Business Administration Program, delivered by Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh, was honored to welcome Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Production Director of G10 – Global Market at Rikkeisoft, who brings over 15 years of experience in Agile project management and professional Agile coaching.

During the session, Mr. Son provided practical insights into the Agile mindset in project management. By comparing the traditional Waterfall approach with Agile methodologies and introducing the Stacey Matrix as a tool to determine the appropriate approach based on project complexity, the session helped students recognize that there is no universally “correct” method—rather, success lies in selecting the most suitable approach for each specific context.

In addition, he emphasized the core values of the Agile Manifesto, including prioritizing individuals and interactions, delivering working products, fostering customer collaboration, and responding effectively to change. Notably, the “fail fast – learn fast” philosophy, together with the principles of transparency, inspection, and adaptation, enabled students to understand that Agile is not merely a working method, but a mindset focused on continuous improvement and value creation.

The session concluded in a dynamic and engaging atmosphere, with students actively raising questions and discussing how Agile can be applied both in real-world projects and academic settings. The Faculty of Business Administration sincerely appreciates Mr. Bui Thanh Son’s valuable time and insightful contributions, which have enriched students’ understanding of the Agile mindset and its practical applications.
