Opening Ceremony of the 426th AUN-QA Accreditation for Three Bachelor’s Programs at Foreign Trade University

On August 27, 2024, Foreign Trade University (FTU) in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network (AUN) conducted the opening ceremony of the AUN-QA accreditation for three high-quality bachelor’s programs taught in English. These programs include the Bachelor of International Finance and Banking (BIFB), Bachelor of International Economics (HIPIE), and Bachelor of International Business Management (HPIBM).

The AUN-QA evaluation team was led by Professor Dr. Amalina Muhammad Afifi and included experts from leading universities in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. From FTU, the ceremony was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Bùi Anh Tuấn, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University; Associate Professor Dr. Lê Thị Thu Thủy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the University Council; Associate Professor Dr. Phạm Thu Hương, Vice President; Associate Professor Dr. Đào Ngọc Tiến, Vice President; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Phúc Hiền, Director of the Center for Testing and Quality Assurance; and other department heads responsible for the three accredited programs, along with representatives of the university’s faculty, staff, and students.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Bùi Anh Tuấn provided an overview of FTU and its strategic development goals for the period 2021-2030, with a vision extending to 2040. He emphasized the university’s aim to become a prestigious and innovative institution both in Vietnam and internationally, guided by the motto “Differentiation to Lead” and driven by the ethos of “Innovation.” To date, FTU has completed its second cycle of institutional accreditation and has had 28 programs accredited, including 16 meeting AUN-QA standards. During this independent evaluation, the university will assess three high-quality bachelor programs in their second cycle of accreditation. Associate Professor Dr. Bùi Anh Tuấn expressed confidence that the expertise and experience of the AUN-QA evaluators will provide valuable recommendations to help the university enhance its quality and meet the growing needs of society and its stakeholders. He affirmed FTU’s commitment to providing the best possible support to the AUN-QA experts to ensure a substantive and effective evaluation process.

From August 27 to August 29, 2024, the AUN-QA expert team will engage with the leaders of the departments responsible for the three programs, heads of relevant academic units, program coordinators, Self-Assessment Report (SAR) teams, faculty members, support staff, students, alumni, and employers associated with the three programs. The team will also conduct site visits to review the university’s facilities and management systems, leading to a preliminary report on the accreditation outcomes.
