From a student with a passion for numbers to the Deputy Head of the Economic and Finance Division at the Office of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Truong Huy Hoang (Alumnus of Cohort 50, FTU Advanced Program in Business Administration) has continuously transformed academic knowledge into meaningful contributions to both his profession and the community.
Before taking on his current position, he worked as an Auditor at PwC Vietnam. Graduating with an outstanding GPA of 3.96/4.0, he was the Valedictorian of Foreign Trade University in 2015. He was also the co-founder and the first President of FBA Elite, the Talent Student Association of the Faculty of Business Administration.
When asked about the most valuable takeaway from the FTU Advanced Program in Business Administration, Mr. Hoang shared:
“The greatest value the Program gave me was a modern management mindset, the ability to approach problems systematically, and the confidence to work in highly demanding environments.”
To him, the Advanced Program in Business Administration provides far more than professional knowledge. It cultivates a spirit of lifelong learning, adaptability, and continuous self-improvement. This strong foundation has enabled him to apply what he learned in practice, contribute to the development and refinement of public policies, and support local public administration.
Looking back on his years at Foreign Trade University, English-medium classes, presentations, and group projects were once significant challenges. However, these very experiences helped him develop critical thinking, communication skills, and the confidence needed to meet the increasingly demanding expectations of his career.
“Academic performance is important, but what matters even more are self-learning ability, independent thinking, a strong sense of responsibility, and practical experience. The skills developed throughout university may not produce immediate results, but they become invaluable assets for a long-term career.”
To current FTU students and prospective K65 FTUers, he shares this message: Make the most of the Program’s learning environment. Be confident in using English, actively participate in teamwork, presentations, and real-world experiences. Every opportunity you seize today will become a stepping stone toward thriving in professional environments tomorrow.
