On Friday, September 4th, 2026, within the framework of the Risk Management course for Class MBA32B under the Full-time Graduate Program at Foreign Trade University – College of Business, taught directly by Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh, the “Meet the Expert” series brought forth a highly practical and academically enriching discussion session centered on the theme “Corporate Risk Management Amid Economic and Political Uncertainty.”
The session was honored to welcome Mr. Ta Viet Phuong, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Rikkeisoft, together with Mr. Hoang The Hung, Strategic Planning Manager at Rikkeisoft, as guest speakers. Drawing upon many years of extensive professional experience in finance, strategy, and corporate governance across numerous prestigious international organizations – most notably his tenure at Amazon Japan, Nissin Group, and currently Rikkeisoft – Mr. Ta Viet Phuong offered participants profound and multidimensional insights into the practice of risk management within today’s highly volatile business environment.
Rather than approaching risk management from a purely theoretical standpoint, the speakers candidly shared real-world risks that both enterprises and management professionals themselves have had to directly confront and resolve – ranging from unpredictable shifts in the economic and political environment, financial, market, and strategic risks, to challenges arising during the process of business expansion and operations, with particular emphasis on emerging risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI). Through a series of vivid, practical case studies, the speakers and participants engaged in candid dialogue on how to identify, assess, prioritize, and select appropriate response strategies for various categories of risk, while also clarifying the critical role of management in striking a balance between risk control and the capacity to seize business opportunities.
One of the most distinctive features that lent the session its particular appeal was its high level of interactivity and continuous two-way exchange throughout the program. Students of Class MBA32B actively and proactively raised real-world risk scenarios they were currently encountering within their own enterprises and areas of work, engaging the experts in in-depth analysis, open discussion, and the search for suitable and feasible solutions. These authentic accounts, contributed by both speakers and students alike, helped connect the course content directly and vividly to the realities of contemporary corporate governance.
This particular Meet the Expert session not only enriched the Risk Management course with valuable practical perspectives, but also provided MBA students with a meaningful opportunity to compare theoretical frameworks against real-world managerial decisions. In doing so, the program contributed to cultivating among students a proactive, adaptive approach to risk management – one closely aligned with corporate strategy amid a business environment increasingly defined by uncertainty.
