[RECAP] LEARNING MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING WITH AN INTERNATIONAL PROFESSOR FROM THE UNITED STATES

Continuing the series of courses with international lecturers, K63 students from the Advanced Program in Business Administration at Foreign Trade University had the opportunity to participate in the Management Accounting course taught by Vivek Mande , Professor of Accounting and Director of the School of Accountancy & Center for Corporate Reporting and Governance at California State University, Fullerton.

Through core topics such as cost behavior analysis, budgeting, variance analysis, and performance evaluation, the course was delivered in a practical, logical, and business-oriented approach. Students not only learned how to interpret accounting figures but also gained a deeper understanding of how companies use accounting information to control costs, evaluate performance, and support managerial decision-making.

One of the highlights of the course was its modern teaching methodology:
• Emphasizing analytical thinking rather than memorizing formulas
• Encouraging students to respond to practical business situations and make decisions through continuous class discussions
• Integrating case studies, group assignments, and mini quizzes throughout the course to ensure immediate application of knowledge in class

In particular, real-world examples from businesses and the U.S. business environment provided students with valuable insights into how international companies manage costs, develop budgets, and evaluate operational performance in a globally competitive market.

After 15 sessions, Management Accounting was no longer perceived as a dry subject centered around numbers, but instead became an important foundation for developing managerial thinking, strengthening financial analysis skills, and preparing students for future international business environments.
